SUMMARY:Options for Domestic Hot Water - Meeting EL3 and 4 in the Zero Carbon Step Code
DESCRIPTION:2 CPD - TBC\nAgenda:12:00PM - 1:00PM - Networking and Refreshments\, compliments FortisBC1:00PM - 2:00PM - Presentation by Matheus Alfred-Olmedo\, Energy Advisor\, Capital Home Energy 2:00PM - 3:00PM - Panel discussion (Matheus Alfred-Olmedo\, Energy Advisor\, Capital Home Energy\, Builder TBA\, The Master Group TBA).3:00PM 7:00PM 19th ANNUAL HAVAN BUILDERS EXPO80+ Exhibitors | Product Demos | Networking | Giveaways | Drinks & MoreFeaturing complimentary food\, exclusive Expo specials and prize draws! For Expo Registration\, please click here\nCourse Overview:The Zero Carbon Step Code aims at reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with operational carbon in a home. There is often confusion regarding what is and not allowed in a new home. This course aims to clarify how the Zero Carbon metrics are calculated\, and specifically how it affects domestic hot water options for homes targeting Emission Levels 3 and 4. Attendees should get a sense of what options are available to them by the end of the session.Key Learning Outcome:The builders will learn what starting options for domestic hot water fuels are available to achieve high Zero Carbon Step Code levels\, while maintaining some fuel options.Key Takeaway:Learn how the Zero Carbon step code is calculated\; learn the about the impact of Domestic Hot Water usage in Zero Carbon Step Code\; learn about domestic hot water options using both natural gas and electricity that meet high ZCSC\nSPEAKERS:Matheus Alfred-Olmedo\, Capital Home EnergyMatheus has been working in the residential sector for over 15 years and has been with Capital Home Energy since 2015. As a Master Energy Advisor (MEA) with the Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (CACEA) he consults with designers\, builders\, architects\, and homeowners to achieve their design goals that target both compliance and energy efficiency. His experience in the residential sector has focused on high performance energy design for homes seeking Step Code compliance\, the CHBA's NetZero Home Labelling program\, F280-12 heat gain and loss design\, and embodied carbon analysis. In his spare time\, he teaches swordplay as an avid Historical European Martial Arts practitioner.\n\nPaul Pieper\, Eng.\, Senior Director of Growth and Innovation\, The Master Group Inc.Paul Pieper is the Senior Director of Growth and Innovation at The Master Group. He holds a degree in Pure and Applied Science from Marianopolis College\, a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Department of Building\, Civil and Environmental Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal and is a member of the Quebec Order of Professional Engineers. Paul is credited as the Inventor on US 8393549 B2 System and Method for Controlling Temperature and Humidity of a Controlled Space. He is considered a Subject Matter Expert in Air-to-Air Energy Recovery and has actively participated with AHRI (developing ISO 16494:2014 Heat recovery ventilators and energy recovery ventilators -- Method of test for performance) and was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) from ASHRAE in recognition of over 20 years of service\, expertise\, and active participation in various technical committees and conferences across North America. Paul has also been a Distinguished Lecturer for ASHRAE and is currently an instructor for the ASHRAE Learning Institute.
