Description

*This course has been approved for 1 CPD by BC Housing*

How well does your company score when it comes to a safe and inclusive work environment? Is your business positioned as a place that supports its workforce and welcomes talent, no matter their gender or demographics?

Most businesses believe they have a culture that welcomes inclusivity, diversity and equality but your bottom dollar depends on knowing where you succeed and where you need to improve. In a time when skilled labour is in high demand, your workplace culture has a significant impact on a worker’s decision to accept a position and stay with the company.

Join HAVAN as it partners with the Builders Code in this special one-hour presentation that introduces Builders Code as a voluntary standard for construction companies to show their commitment to creating a safe work environment, whether onsite or in an office. Originally created for HAVAN’s Residential Construction Industry Career Expo exhibitors, this session welcomes all CHBA-BC members interested in learning how to positively shift the construction industry’s narrative.

As part of the learning process, the session includes access to the Builders Code Scorecard for individual worksite culture assessment – see where the gaps are and learn how your company can do even better. Builders Code will invite exhibitors to sign the Acceptable Worksite Pledge. In doing so, they will be provided with a Digital Badge for the Expo to indicate they are a Signatory of the Builders Code.

Great News! If you are a confirmed exhibitor or sponsor of HAVAN Women's Council Career Expo, this course is included in your benefits package and you can sign up you and your team at no cost - select the Career Expo Exhibitor ticket option.

About Builders Code
The Builders Code sets a standard code of conduct for workers on construction sites in BC. It defines an “Acceptable Worksite” as the starting point for reducing risk and ensuring a safe and productive environment for all workers. The Builders Code is intended to help construction employers communicate a reasonable, consistent behavior expectation to improve the safety, productivity and retention of skilled tradespeople, and reduce project risk.
