*UPDATE: this tour has been expanded to be a two-hour session (3 - 5 p.m.) and will be presented as part of HAVAN's Builders' Breakfast, and has been recognized by BC Housing for 2 CPDs*
This month's Builders' Breakfast session is an on-site seminar and technical demonstration tour of The Peak project in Vancouver, BC.
The Peak is a 6-storey, 57-unit wood frame building targeting Passive House certification. The mixed-use development is currently under construction with a completion date of mid-2022. Designed by Cornerstone Architecture and built by EDGE Construction & Design, The Peak will feature 52 residential homes and 5 commercial spaces.
The seminar will be led by the builder and architect firms, sharing their design and build strategies to get this mixed-use development to Passive House standards, and the realities of the process -- challenges, solutions and finally, lessons learned during this high-performance build.
This project is EDGE Construction's first Passive House build and Cornerstone Architecture is a leader in Passive House projects in B.C., so their insights will be valuable and relatable to all builders, regardless of their Passive House experience.
The builder and architect, will lead the presentation, diving into:
Technical discussions and demonstrations of the exterior shading devices, windows/doors, and the supply air cooling will be led by the manufacturers. These key systems were selected to help achieve the stringent metrics required for PH certification.
