Resilience by Design: Building Strategies to Adapt to a Changing Climate
Climate change affects more than just the environment – it affects how we build homes now and in the future. This month’s webinar will bring together three speakers who will discuss how climate change affects their side of the residential construction industry, and share strategies for building resilience – from builders insurance to designing and building resilient homes.
Reza Kamrani, CRM, Regional Association Manager, Federated Insurance
Climate change is affecting on the insurance industry and has a direct impact on how businesses in the homebuilding industry are covered. Reza will talk to why some companies are no longer qualifying for insurance even when they are reliable clients, and what builders can do to mitigate the issue as insurance coverage becomes more difficult to acquire.
Josh Leger, Project Lead, Forge Craft Architecture + Design
Forge Craft is an Austin, Texas-based architecture and design firm with clients around the globe, working to advance the art and science of design in order to solve big challenges and improve lives. Josh will discuss his firm’s deep belief in pushing for design that inspires a new way of thinking about the built environment and will highlight examples of how their designs are delivering on client expectations, environmental and social responsibility, and building performance.
Mark Cooper, President, Shakespeare Homes & Renovations Inc.
Mark will share his experience building high performance homes in our region, as well as building and living in his own award-winning Built Green Platinum-certified and BC Energy Step Code 4 home.
