Course overview
Next level codes are here. Many communities throughout the province have adopted building code regulations that go beyond the minimum requirements of both the Energy Step Code and the Zero Carbon Step Code. And if it isn’t your local building jurisdiction, then it’s your clients who are expecting better built homes. In this 2-hour accredited course, Jonathan Layton of Layton Consulting and Mike Cairns of Innotech Windows + Doors, will discuss the ins-and-outs of high-performance fenestration to meet (and exceed) code requirements and client expectations.
Key learning outcomes:
1. Provide an overview of the key code requirements for fenestration to meet Step 5 of the Energy Step Code, EL-4 of the Zero Carbon Step Code, and the BC Building Code
2. Core performance metrics to effectively evaluate high-performance fenestration
3. Outline best practices for a high-performance installation
4. Explore innovations that impact fenestration now – and in future
Key takeaways:
1. Understand how fenestration can help meet next level codes (or not)
2. Level up your knowledge of fenestration – it’s no longer about material type or operating style
3. Avoid common errors in installation that negatively impact performance
4. Get tips to improve long-term performance and end-user satisfaction
